ENC AGM - Sunday November 18th

Another notice to everyone that we will be holding our AGM on Sunday the 18th of November in the committee room at the Sports Club from 3pm. Apologies for the short notice, but we only confirmed this room booking yesterday evening after training. The meeting itself should only last for a couple of hours maximum, and will give us a chance to go through the accounts, update you on the progress of the club in general, and then hopefully have some constructive discussion about what we want to do to move the club forwards over the coming year.

I know some of you have expressed an interest in helping out with ENC, and we are looking to expand the committee for 2008 (at the moment, it’s really just Dave, Kerry and Alan running the club), so please don’t be shy in offering your services if this is something you think you might be interested in. In reality, given the size of ENC, we’re not looking for huge commitments – in fact, even the smallest things go a long way towards improving the club, so please give it some thought.

Christmas Social - Wednesday December 19th

Just a quick reminder to everyone at the club know that we’re planning to have an end of season evening out on Wednesday December 19th in place of training. The plan at the moment is to meet at the club from 6.30-7pm onwards, have a few drinks there, and then head to a restaurant in Winchmore Hill or somewhere fairly local for a meal at about 8-8.30pm. As with all ENC socials, anyone is welcome, so feel free to bring along your partners / anyone who you think might fancy a night out. Remember that at the moment, the club are helping us out with the use of the facilities on a Wednesday night, so if we can give something back by putting some money behind the bar on an evening like this, then all the better.

Can people let us know if they will/won't be attending either at training next week, or by emailing us at alan@edmontonnetballclub.org. Also, please let us know if you have any particular food likes / dislikes so that we can plan accordingly.

Inter Club Game

This Friday's just gone saw ENC hold their first inter-club game at Hydeside, and the evening proved to be a big success. Despite cold conditions, we managed to get players, a qualified umpire and some hardy spectators courtside to enjoy the game. The teams proved to be fairly evenly matched, and the result wasn't decided until well into the last quarter, which made for quite an exciting game, which ended up 26-19 in favour of the black bibs, as the yellows ran out of steam a little towards the end. It was good to see so many of the players back in the clubhouse afterwards, where beer, wine and pizza seemed to be the order of the day after a monster order from Dominoes. Following on from the sucess of the evening, we're looking to do the same every couple of months, and we're also planning some kind of Christmas do as well, so watch this space for more details...

Inter-Club Game / Social - 19th October

Just to let you know, we're planning an inter-club game for Friday the 19th of October at the club. We’re doing this partly so that the players can get some quality match practice (umpired strictly), and partly so we can have a bit of a social afterwards. Hopefully we should be able to keep the game as an all girls affair, but if we're struggling for numbers, then the boys can get involved too. We're hoping to have a proper umpire to help us out as well, so that you can get some good match practice / experience.

The start time will be as close to 7.00pm as possible, and after the game, we're planning to have a bit of a social in the bar, where we'll probably order pizza or something along those lines. There are full shower/changing facilities available for everyone after the game, so you don't have to go into the bar in your kit.

Can everyone do their best to make it along, and feel free to bring family / friends as well, it would be good to see a decent turnout for the match, and for a couple of post match drinks. For more information, please contact alan@edmontonnetballclub.org, or ring Alan Barnard on 07973 506642

Ladies vs. Men Game a Success

Friday's ENC Ladies vs. Men game proved to be a massive success, despite a torrential downpour just before the start, which threatened to turn the game into a farce. The strong looking boys team ran out 27-14 victors on the night, but the partisan crowd were treated to a stirring comeback from the girls in the 2nd half of the game, after being 12-0 down after just 15 minutes. The evening itself was well supported, and a fair amount of money was raised for the club through the buffet and the raffle. We're hoping to have some photos of the evening up on the website soon, so watch this space. Also, I'm hoping to persuade someone to write a report to go on the website as well.

New Club Sign Unveiled

As you can see in the above photo, Edmonton Netball Club now have a large sign in the car park of Edmonton Sports Club, advertising for new members to join. The sign, provided by one of our sponsors, DayLight Signs Ltd. will hopefully serve to attract even more new members to the club, and boost our ranks as we look to build towards league netball later in 2007. As always, we are still looking for more new recruits, and prospective new members are encouraged to come along to our weekly training sessions at Edmonton Sports and Social club from 19:30. For more information, please get in touch with us via the Contact Section.

29th March 2007

Edmonton 23-33 Troy

A promising start in our first serious match saw Troy run out winners by 10, but Edmonton suprised a few people by how competitive they were. With players that have only been training together for a couple of months (including some youngsters), we remained competitive throughout, with the help of experienced Goal Shooter Kim Goddard. It was a good evening all round, well supported, and shows how far we've come as a club in such a short space of time. We're looking forward to more friendlies over the coming months as the weather improves, so watch this space for more details. We should have some photos and a report up on the site fairly soon as well, so keep your eyes peeled.

ENC Friendly vs. Troy (28th March)

Edmonton Netball Club will play their first friendly game since their formation this Wednesday the 28th of March from 8pm. The game, against North London Netball League club, Troy will take place in the multi-sports area at Hydeside, and hopefully will prove to be well supported. If all goes well, we should have some pictures from the game up on the website later this week. We've also updated the fixtures/results section of the website accordingly. If anyone would like any more info about the game, or the club in general, please drop us an email at alan@edmontonnetballclub.org or call the 'ENC Hotline' on 0845 393 2381.

What ENC Are All about

Edmonton Netball Club is a new club, formed in late 2006 with an aim of providing competitive netball for girls and ladies from the age of 14 upwards from the 2007-08 season. Based at and affiliated to the friendly Edmonton Sports and Social club, we can boast floodlit training/match courts, brand new changing facilities and an excellent bar and clubhouse which is open at weekends and on week nights.

Edmonton Netball Club is all about trying to promote a friendly atmosphere in which to play netball, but still hopes to be competitive in league and friendly matches. Once we get up and running, we'll be looking to have regular social events at the Sports and Social Club and will be looking for members to play an active role in the social side of the club.

One thing we do need at the moment is more players! If you've played netball at any standard, and are looking to get back into it, or if you're looking for a new club at the moment with a friendly atmosphere, then perhaps Edmonton is the club for you. Long term, we're looking to field a number of teams at differing levels of ability, so even if you're not as fit as you could be, or a little bit rusty, we'd be happy to have you along.

Our training takes place on Wednesday nights from 19:30 until 21:30 at the Sports and Social club on the corner of Church Street and the A10 Great Cambridge Road, and anyone is more than welcome to turn up, even if it's just to have a chat with us, and find out more about what we're all about.

If you need to contact us, you can call us on 0845 393 2381, which is a dedicated line for the Netball Club, so please leave a message with your name and number and we'll get back to you. Also, you can email us at alan@edmontonnetballclub.org.

ENC Move in to the World of MySpace

It's true! You can find Edmonton Netball Club on MySpace, thanks to the hard work of one of our dedicated recruits. The MySpace URL is http://www.myspace.com/edmontonnetballclub, so feel free to pop along to take a look, and perhaps even make friends with us. You know it makes sense... I mean how many people can actually claim to have made friends with a Netball Club?
