New Changing Rooms

For the 2006 season, the sports club, with the help of a substantial grant from the Football Foundation invested in new changing facilities, which are now the envy of the league. With 12 spacious dressing rooms, all with their own shower and toilet facilities they really are something to be proud of. In addition to this, there is a separate umpires rooms, and first aid room as well as an area that can be used to watch matches.

Three Squares (1st XI / 2nd XI & 3rd XI / 4th XI & 5th XI)

Having three squares gives us the flexibility to play three home matches on the same day. This allows us to compete in both the Middlesex Championship / Middlesex County League (1st XI / 2nd XI) and the 1987 League (3rd, 4th & 5th XI) on Saturdays. All three squares are of a very high standard, and gradings have shown them to be among the best in the league. This has been recognized by Middlesex Colts, who have played several midweek matches here in recent years.

Covers For Main Square

Our covers, purchased for the 2000 season have enabled us to play games which otherwise would have been cancelled due to poor weather. Having a dry wicket for the week leading up to the game allows the ground staff to prepare excellent pitches on a week-by-week basis. We also have a tarpaulin style cover for our 3rd 4th XI square.

Astroturf Wicket

Due to the large number of Colts games played over the season, having an artificial wicket enables us to schedule more games with less disruption to senior cricket. The artificial wicket can also be used as an alternative to a grass pitch in a senior game if necessary.

Six Astroturf Nets

Several years ago, the club decided to purchase three full length astroturf nets for Colts and senior practice. This gave us a total of six nets, which has allowed our Colts section to expand, and enhanced our Colts team managers coaching sessions. Senior net practice takes place on Wednesdays at 6.30pm in the three new nets. For the 2007 season, we plan to refurbish the newer nets, to improve the surfaces, and give us differing surfaces (suited to spin / seam etc.) This is something that will be detailed here in due course.

Portable Net for Grass Wicket

The portable net can be set up on the square to allow Senior 1st and 2nd XI practice to go ahead under match-like conditions. The practice pitches are looked after as well as the main playing strips to ensure that we get the most out of our practice sessions.

Bowling Machine

A couple of seasons back, the club purchased a Bola bowling machine primarily to help with coaching the Colts section, but it is availible to the senior section when not being used by the Colts. It can run at upto 99 mph and can bowl both spin or swing. It is especially useful for perfecting a particular type of shot.

Clubhouse with Lounge & Main Bars

Having a good social side is one of the most important aspects of the club, Edmonton has two bars and a friendly atmosphere as well as reasonably priced beer. In 2006/07, the whole clubhouse and bar was totally refurbished to a very high standard, with new toilets as well. It is now one of the best pavillions in the league, and something that the club can be proud of.

Full-time Groundsman

Our groundsman since 1995 has been Brent Rickard, he and his assistant David Sans are responsible for getting the ground in near perfect condition for the start of the cricket season. Over the last 5 years, both the wickets and the outfield have improved immeasurably, a credit to Brent and David.
