5th XI Play First Game on the New Square (20/5/2006)
The new Grocers square to be used primarily by the Saturday 5th XI, a couple of weeks before the first match was played. The facilies on the new pitch are excellent, with a portable scoreboard, sightscreens at both ends, and a 4 wicket square. The pitch will also give us more flexibility to schedule colts games, and allow us to lease out the pitch to raise funds for the club when we don't use it. |
Tony Brown, Peter Pate, John 'Scorer' Squires and David 'Skipper' Sans survey the scene as the 5th XI cruise to their maiden victory on their debut on the new square. |
The scoreboard paints a rosey picture as Bill Bilimoria (4-28) and Tony Kershaw (4-18) were instrumental in skittling Ealing's 9 men for just 50. |
Youngster Adam Shirley is solid in defence as he gets on the front foot, despite some pressure from the close in fielders. |
The players and supporters deep in concentration as the 5th XI close in on a win. |
Meanwhile, on the main pitch, the 1st XI celebrate another wicket in the drawn game against Indian Gymkhana. |
