New Club Developments for 2006 season
The nets are in the first stage of a 2 stage redevelopment process. Before the start of the 2006 season, new heavy duty scaffolding side poles will be laid in conrete foundations to give the structure the rigidity to make it last for years to come. The existing frame will fit into these poles to provide the cross poles at the top of the nets. New netting is being purchased and by the end of phase 1, the whole structure will be solid enough to last indefinitely. Phase 2 will be started in the close season at the end of 2006, where the matting will be taken up, and a new base layer will be put down. This will need to be rolled out, and the matting replaced. The end result of this will be quicker and truer nets with more bounce, all at very little financial cost to the club. |

Looking at the new path built from the clubhouse to the new changing room development. You can see that the tunnel to the old changing rooms below the clubhouse has been removed to make more space on the balcony. The space under the clubhouse will now be used for storage and office space, whilst the existing club office is likely to become a disabled wc. |
The new multi-sports area next to the main car park will be used for midweek football, netball and junior cricket coaching and practice. At the weekend, it can double up as a car park overflow. The existing groundsmans store in the car park is likely to become the new bowls changing facilities. |
The view from the top of the new balcony area, which is much improved now that the players tunnel has been removed from the front of the clubhouse. The whole area has been raised, and new fancing will be provided around the edge so that football, cricket and bowls viewing will be much easier. At the bowls green end of the balcony there will be a wheelchair lift to allow access to the clubs facilities for all. |
The new groundsmans store at the end of the changing rooms allows much better access for the tractors, rollers and mowers to the main ground and the grocers ground. There will be a power-point in here that will allow the bowling machine to be run off the mains. This will stop the flat battery probems that can prematurely end a nets session half way though. |
