As this weeks fixtures were decimated by rain, there are very few changes to be made to the table. The fifth XI managed a game, and as a consequence, Andy ‘Alice’ Cooper notched an impressive two points with a wicket (yes, you heard correctly – a wicket). However, Andy managed to undo some of the good work by getting dismissed for less than 10 (again).

Although this feature is technically dedicated to fantasy league details, we will try to use it as a kind of news service for the club, talking about the weekend’s matches. As such, we will be talking about Sunday games as well as Saturday. Remember, should you wish to have anything posted on this site, please submit it to us – we are always looking for informative or funny material. Also, if you are reading this site, please sign the guestbook, so that we can see what sort of people are logging in, and what they would like to see on the site. My sister has managed to sign the guestbook twice, so I think that a few other people should do the same.

On a final note, the club has finally acquired a bowling machine, how long, do you think before somebody gets pissed off with Herron’s moaning and switches it to 95mph without telling him? On a more serious note it’s good to see the club is investing in quality equipment, especially since the purchase of the covers at the start of the season. It’s nice to hear opposing teams commenting about the general quality of our facilities, and the high standard of both pitches. More updates next week, where looking at the weather report, we should have some games to talk about – Alan.

As the season stumbles on, affected by the weather, the Fantasy League goes from strength to strength. I’d just like to take a moment to thank all those people who have provided their support by getting their teams in – remember, all money (except the prize money) will go to the club. That is of course if Smith doesn’t do a runner, since he has most of it. Also, a big thank you to Tim Beeden & Dave Smith, whose idea it was, and without whom, the League would not have got off the ground. Please remember that we will try to update this site weekly, but this is not always possible. Should you have any articles / comments / suggestions that you would like to see on the site, please mail them to edmontoncc@talk21.com or give them to me or Tim, preferably on a disk

After the Clash of the Titans between the 3rds and 4ths in the league on Saturday, and the 1st XI’s drubbing of Harrow St. Mary’s, there were a lot of points at stake this weekend. Arguably each teams easiest fixture, the 3rds must have thought that Christmas had come early when Gupta and Colin Turner walked out to the wicket, and their hopes had been fulfilled by about 3.30pm when they had bowled them out for a poor 97. In the 1st XI, the team goes from strength to strength while Smith just gets worse. The umpire was heard to say ‘What a crap stance’ after he had been triggered – never mind Smith, there’s always the fourth team. Stavros Elias ‘Lucky Cap’ (acquired from North London some years ago) has proved to be successful after nearly five years. Perhaps we were barking up the wrong tree with our ‘Lucky Cake’ last season. A mention must go to Stav for the consistent b*llocks he talks in the slips – I’m sure it does put the batsmen off, a few of them have been heard to say ‘What the f*ck is he on about?’ Special mention also to Ricko Lewis, who seems to have settled in nicely, talking 2-8 on his First XI debut on Saturday.

This week, we’re having a quick look at the number of picks for individual players in the Fantasy League. Top of the picks are as follows: Dave Baker (27), Tim Beeden (26), John Street (24), Paul Ryan (24) and Barry O’Leary (22). Dave Baker is unsurprisingly top, due to his £7 price tag, and his all round abilities – the fact that he’s in the 3rd XI may also have boosted his picks. Leading Points scorers so far are John Street (15pts) & Dave Baker (15pts), though Paul Fursse leads the batting category with 12pts. A brief word of consolation for the unlucky 13 people that have picked Smith – sorry guys there’s always the transfer period.

Moan of the week goes to Russell Beeden, who to be fair can talk for England. He claims that his valuation at £3 is way below what it should be. All I can say Russ is shut up moaning and go out and score some points – especially since myself and 16 other people have got you in their teams. One last word – you may have noticed and unnaturally large amount of abuse being directed at a Mr D Smith – remember, we’re only giving as good as we get, and since he’ll probably retire from Cricket by June (as he has done every season sice 1990), we’re getting all the abuse in that we can. Sorry Dave – we love you really. Tune in next week for the latest instalment of Fantasy League based Gossip – although looking at the weather, we won’t have a great deal to talk about. cheers, Alan.

Welcome to the first week fantasy standings and comment. We aim to make this section a regular feature, tracking those teams doing well and those not so well (Smith). As you can see, four teams have leapt into the lead, although three of these were submitted after today’s matches and are being looked upon as dubious to say the least. In fact of the top 7 only Beryl Smyth and Harry Smiths teams were submitted before today’s games. Meanwhile, David Smith is bringing up the rear with his "One Man Team", managing to score an impressive minus 5 - seven points off second last.

This week, were going to have a quick look at team names, notably those that are particularly good, and those that are equally bad. In the first category, Alan Porter is "Stumped for a Name", whilst Stavros Elia has recognised his Greek Cypriot roots, naming his team "Bubble & Squeak". Phil Langdell goes straight to the point calling his team "The Wankers" although as I'm in his team, so I'm not totally impressed with this. Meenwhile Anan Rooban claims to be "Too Old To Play Cricket", which we all agree with after Saturdays performance and Jim Arrowsmith is just one of eleven "Stealing Scousers". Prize for the most surreal name goes to Terry Smyth's "Syd Goattappers Allstars", but overall, the best name has to be the topical "Show Me The Money Eddie" managed by Russell Beeden.

At the other end of the scale, Roger Sans has showed exceptional originality, naming his teams "RS XI" and "RS2" - you must have been up all night thinking about them mate! Other poor names include "Adam's Anchors" and "Herrons Hellfire", Adam Billimoria and Adam Herron respectively. Mind you, arguably the least original name is "Gavin's All Time XI" by Gavin Mardell surely you could have done better than that Gav?
