All members are welcome, and the first session is booked for Tuesday 8th October at Highlands School, Worlds End Lane, N21. Two of the best bowlers in the league took Edmontons batting apart, and our total of 113 was a big blow, despite the result not being important. Credit must go to the promoted sides West Harrow and Osterley, who proved over the course of the season that they were the best and most consistent sides in the league. On a positive note, the 2nd XI won their division easily, and move up the league structure to Div 2. The disappointment was capped by a defeat on Sunday for the 1st XI after Dave Hinnigan and Alan Barnard looked to seal a win after putting on over 100, but again, it was not to be. The Sunday 2nd XI managed to win their division against the odds, and I'm told could be playing the 1st XI next season!! Pick of the players were Tim Beeden, Ciaran Dodds and Anil Sharma making his first XI debut. THe planned 2nd XI night out didn't really materialise, so we went to O'Raffertys and got lashed up. Nice. On sunday Edmonton 1st XI overcame rivals Enfield with ease, Dodgy Dave easing to 70, scoring most of his runs off Ed Barnard's nose. A monster drinking session in planned. Meenwhile the 1st XI came off worse in ther encounter with Birkbeck College, despite Alan Barnard and Tim Beeden amassing a 108 run partnership. Elsewhere, the club entered a very young looking side into the Northampton Exile 6-a-Side tournament, and ruffled a few feathers by finishing in second place. Goddard, Dodds, Varley, Cheese and Sivathasan can be very proud of their performances! This came after skipper Tony Willett made a very attacking declaration, well before 50 overs, after we had reached 214-4. Venki top-scored with 50, and the rest of the runs and wickets were evenly distributed. The Second team did not fancy the drama of a last over finish, deciding to bowl out MTSCC for 135, easing past them for the loss of three wickets. Martin Loveday, making his bowling debut took an excellent 4 wickets, while John Street and Tony Willett took 3 apiece. In the 2nd XI game at Turnaham Green, a similar pattern emerged, with Green skittled for 70, and the runs being chased easily for 1 wicket. Kevin Lawrence was the star for the second week running, proving that spin is as effective as pace with 7 wickets. The 2nd XI consolidated their lead at the top of the table, and make it even harder for the chasing pack to get among the promotion places.
