1st XI vs. Osterley

Report by: Matt Worton

2nd XI vs. Barclays

Report by: Chris Goddard

Turn up to the very nice Barclays ground and see that only me Dom and Khazi are there. Anyway, the whole team is in good spirits after last weeks winning draw and basically knowing that our fate is in our own hands. So we are all netting and Kev gets offered the toss, he opts to field as usual. Anyway we all get changed and take the field.

We opened up with Dom and Lloyd; Dom bowled a decent line and length and was unlucky not to get a wicket. Lloyd on the other hand was bowling wit good pace and was cutting the batsmen in half. a few overs later, their batsmen tries to sweep Lloyd. He top edges and it hits him on his cheek. Claret everywhere. He has to retire hurt. Number three comes along. He looks like a truly village cricketer and doesn't move his feet at all. Lloyd had worked this out and two overs later gets him to drag on. Anil replaces Lloyd and bowls there other opener out with an absolute beauty. There good batsmen comes out and sets about dispatching Gaff, who had replaced Dom. On a dodgy track the batsmen really should wear helmets. Anyway there good bat tries to sweep gaff and top edges into his nose. I hear a crack and blood everywhere. There team come and help him off, he collapses as leaving pitch. Another one down. Ambulance turns up. Back to the game, there first retired batsmen comes back and is still bleeding, rightfully he is wearing a lid. A couple of overs later he tries to dispatch gaff straight and gets caught at slip by Anil. We then continue to take wickets, with Stav bowling really well and taking 3 wickets. Gaff got 4 Anil got one and Lloyd got one. One retired. They were all out for 174.

We take a decent tea; Kev decides to open wit Khazi and Anil.

Anil goes out knowing he only needs 28 for his 1000 Saturday runs. Anyway, Anil goes out and does what he does best; dispatching everything for four, Khazi isn't really a slouch and plays it around a lot. Anil gets his 28 and we all clap, not the last time we would be doing it. Anil passes 50 and then plays a silly shot and gets caught at slip. Asif comes in, Khazi then gets given out lbw, Jilesh comes in and they see off the remaining runs, cue jubilant scenes as we have won the title. We congratulated the guys had a few pics taken and popped our champagne.

We played really well and enjoyed the game, Fielding was good, Batting was good and bowling was good. Big thanks to Kev, who has done a lot for this team over the last four years and have made county division 2 standard. Also Khazi, who also has a never die attitude and has made the game fun for all of us with his witty comments. And finally Anil, who has got 1022 runs on Saturdays this season, without him we probably would of been relegated. Well done lads bring on division 2!!!

Team: Kev, Khazi, Anil, Dom, Jilesh, Lloyd, Goddard, Gaff, Stav, Asif and James
